ARTIST TRUST: 2008 FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM APPLICATIONS

2008 FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM APPLICATIONS NOW AVAILABLE Application Deadline: June 20, 2008

The Artist Trust/Washington State Arts Commission Fellowship Program recognizes practicing professional artists of exceptional talent and demonstrated ability, acknowledging an artist's creative excellence and accomplishment, professional achievement and continuing dedication to their artistic discipline.

The Artist Trust/WSAC Fellowship Program makes annual awards of $6,500 each to Washington artists working in four disciplines. In 2008 (and even-numbered years), 21 individual, generative* artists who work in Emerging Fields & Cross-Disciplinary Arts, Performing Arts, Traditional & Folk Arts, and Visual Arts will receive Fellowships. (In odd-numbered years, Fellowships are awarded to artists working in Craft Arts, Literary Arts, Media Arts, and Music Arts.) *Generative artists are defined as the originators of a work of art.

2008 Fellowship Categories

EMERGING FIELDS & CROSS-DISCIPLINARY ARTS - Includes but is not limited to: Digital Arts (e.g. computer and web-based works); Architectural and Environmental Design; Graphic Novels; Interactive and Immersive Installation; Sound Art; Spoken Word; and Cross-Disciplinary arts.

PERFORMING ARTS - Includes but is not limited to: Choreography; Costume Design; Dance-Based Performance; Movement; Musical Theater; Performance Art; Playwriting; Set Design; and Theatre Performance.

TRADITIONAL & FOLK ARTS - Includes but is not limited to: Art forms (e.g. music, dance, craft, performance) learned as part of a community that shares a common ethnic heritage, language, religion, occupation, or geography.

VISUAL ARTS - Includes but is not limited to: Drawing; Graphic Design; Illustration; Installation; Painting; Printmaking; Photography; and Sculpture.

Since 1993, Artist Trust has maintained a successful cooperative partnership with the Washington State Arts Commission to administer Fellowship awards on behalf of the State of Washington. Through the Artist Trust/ Washington State Arts Commission Fellowship Program, Artist Trust has awarded $1,819,500 to 330 artists.

The application postmark deadline is June 20, 2008. Artist Trust members receive an application by mail.
